Welcome to the B-17 #42-31367 "Chow-hound" website, dedicated to the nine-member Thompson Crew, which was downed on August 8, 1944 in Lonlay l'Abbaye, France.  Bodies of six crew members were found and buried at that time.
2nd Lt. David J. Nelson
Sixty years later, in 2004, the crash site was located and excavated due to the efforts of ANSA and DOD/JPAC. The remaining three crew members were found in the fuselage. Funeral services for the crew were held at Arlington National Cemetery August 24, 2006.
Remnants of the "Chow-hound" - a section of the wing, a propeller blade and a portion of the original nose art - will be the centerpiece of a display in the Passenger Terminal at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (JBMDL) in New Jersey.
